On Mother’s Day what a perfect article! Yes, it most certainly happens in the blink of an eye. My only son is now 27 with two kids of his own. While I am lapping up my new role as “Grandma”, I do remember my own son’s growing years and the nostalgia I now feel toward those days/memories. I do miss those baby years but find I am truly enjoying my son in his independence. As a man and a father, my son is the very best and while I do not take full credit for his successes, I do believe what he was “given” growing up was enough to sustain him throughout his adult life. And the friendship we have today – now that I’m no longer in the “controlling” or “guiding” part of his life – is absolutely beyond wonderful and feels so very, very special. I do take pride in the man and father he’s become but know that his successes today are his alone to make and I can only admire from the sidelines and pray he always remembers I, his mother, will always be here for him for anything at any time. It’s time to build those adult memories with my son while enjoying the view of seeing his kids grow – ever so quickly and steadily – toward adulthood, too.

Oh, Shirley, they do grow up too fast – but the next phase has it’s wonders and joys, too. It is a hard time to go through, the letting go process and allowing your babies to grow into the adults they were meant to be. But adulthood, aahhh, adulthood! Just think, in a few short years, your oldest could possibly meet the man of her dreams, get married and have new babies for you to hold sooner than you may imagine! College isn’t but four years!! Marriage, fingers crossed, forever!! And grandchildren are THE BEST!!! You sill have many wonders and joys to look forward to…for years and years to come!

What you have written is so beautiful, Tamela. Thank you for sharing your heart. I doubt I’ll ever truly be able to “let go” of my babies. I know with you by my side, I can face the next chapter and look forward to those grands one day … just not too soon now! 🙂 I love hearing all about your grands for now and how you didn’t think it was possible to love more than you love Kyle, and yet your love multiplied and deepened when your grands arrived! I remember their arrival, and I am thankful that I’ve gotten to know Kyle through the years and your grands as well through you. You are precious to me. I hope you know that.

Praise God at His amazing grace with us. What a blessing to have a family. I was told that I would never have kids, and God blessed us with a son in 2000. God is so much more powerful than anything and it’s a blessing to be His!! 🙂

Aww, Jamie! Thank you so much for sharing your story as well. God is so good, and He has given us both the desires of our heart with our miracles from above. This warmed my heart hearing your story as well.
