Be Imitators of God
I am so excited tonight because the Good Morning Girls will start their new bible study tomorrow on being Intentionally Focused! I have participated in several of their bible studies in the past, but this time I have joined a group for the interaction and accountability aspect. Also, when I review the bible verse and “SOAP” the scripture, I will get a chance to view what others have shared in the group on how they interpret them.
My group leader posted the first scripture tonight to get us all geared up to begin tomorrow. I couldn’t wait to dive right in! My daughters and I read it together, and immediately the first verse reminded us of a time when we participated in a creative ministry at a church we were attending.
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Ephesians 5:1 NLT
My oldest daughter was maybe ten years old at the time when she joined the church group. They called themselves God’s Copycats. This group of youths would go around to neighboring towns to minister with puppetry, black light productions, hip hop dance, and interpretive movement/sign art. I had the privilege of witnessing my daughter coming out of her shell during each and every opportunity they had to minister with their performance. She was shy, yet on “stage” you would never know it due to how she joined right in, learned the moves, and poured it all out during the “show.” My husband and I helped backstage, which was chaotic at times but worth it all and more! What a blessing to be a part of such a wonderful group of young people letting their lights shine for Jesus!
Thank you, Good Morning Girls, for the trip down memory lane with the very first bible verse in this study! It has been a blessing to my heart already!
Care to join us on this journey? The Good Morning Girls provide the scriptures, you provide the bible. That is all that is necessary to get you started with the bible study that begins Monday, January 20, 2014. While their groups are now closed, you can still do the bible study as they share several times a week on their blog as well as sending information in emails and on Facebook. If you would like to write here about their study, I welcome that also. Feel free to SOAP your verses here or write anything that is on your heart after reading the scriptures.
This is going to bless so many hearts far and wide. I can feel it! How ever you do it, please join in as we become Intentionally Focused!
Intentionally Focused - Week Two | Light, Love, Hope

[…] I will be honest and tell you that I did not do so well the first week. Why? Because although I decided to join a group this time around versus doing the bible study solo or “just” blogging about it (which I do love, by the way, as you all know), I failed to participate in the group this week. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to be a part of the group. That couldn’t be further from the truth. The issue actually had to do with me not feeling good enough. I am not a bible scholar. I haven’t studied it cover to cover, front to back. I don’t have markings all over my bible nor do I have verses highlighted throughout. While I grew up in the church going every time the doors were open, and while I did study the bible and memorized verses, etc. I still feel inadequate in this area. My fear of how I would be perceived by the others prevented me from participating. I am shy, and it does take a while for me to feel comfortable sharing in a group setting. I used this as my reason throughout the week as to why I would just observe and then I would eventually join in when I felt comfortable. I did attempt at one time to write in the group, but I am extremely long winded. Instead of posting it there, I carried it over to my blog here and wrote this first post sparked from the very first bible verse: Be Imitators of God.) […]
