I’m 31 years old and my Mom is my closest dearest friend. She has given me so much love, support and encouragement throughout my life. I am so lucky to have her. I see that you and your daughter have that too and I’m sure it will only deepen over time.

Stephanie, thank you for posting this today. It is so refreshing to see other mothers and daughters that have this very special bond that has stood the test of time. It just brings tears to my eyes. I love this: “My mom is my closest dearest friend.” Bless your heart! I know it thrills your mother to hear you say those words!

There’s nothing better than parenting your child to the point of friendship ;). My daughters are my best friends–we love spending time together, we text, Skype or IM each other daily, we cheer each other on and cry with each other. Yeah, they come to me for advice some times, but they know I’m offering it as a friend, not a mommy who demands that they follow it. It’s hard to remember when they’re two and testing you that if you do the parenting thing right, you’ll have best friends twenty years down the road! I’m so glad that you’re reaping the fruits of your labor and enjoying sweet time with your best friend.

How beautiful, Anita! You have exactly what I’ve been striving for through these 17 years with my daughter. I loved reading this, and it just made me smile! Congratulations, Mom, for a job well done!
