From Monster Trucks To Prom Dresses
Yesterday was a fun filled day with the family! We had the absolute BEST time!
We started our day by going to the Party In The Pit with Monster Jam. We were providing coverage of the party and interviewing a national champion while at the show for another blog that I have the pleasure of writing for! My husband has been to the pit at the Nascar races before, but he’s never been to the Party In The Pit with the monster trucks … until now! As you can imagine, he was beside himself with excitement, and I joked that he was the biggest kid there. That actually reminded me of the saying that boys never truly grow up. The only thing that changes is the cost and size of their toys! How TRUE!
I will save my review and account of the party for the other blog (packed with up-close pictures of the monster trucks), but I just have to share these teaser pictures with you:
After my family and I enjoyed this party, we went off to the mall in search of prom dresses! No kidding! We did actually go from monster trucks to prom dresses yesterday!
The mall is every woman’s dream, right? Shopping for dresses, trying each lacy, frilly dress on … oh yes! Women love this stuff! Except my “little girl.” She is 17 years old but is more comfortable in jeans and a band tee-shirt than she is dressing up. She loves her Converse shoes and considers putting on her cowgirl boots to ride horses as her version of dressing up!
As her mother, though, I was completely excited to have the whole prom dress shopping experience with her. I literally went to every rack and got every color and style of dress to take into the dressing room for her to try on. Oh, we had reds, blues, pinks, blacks, teals, light greens, etc., etc. etc. We had floor length dresses, ball gown/Cinderella type dresses, short dresses, to a combination of short in the front and long in the back with a train. She made ALL of those dresses look good!
I was determined for her to have a chance to see herself in every prom dress that particular store had to offer. I had an arm full of dresses and made several trips back and forth from the racks to the dressing room numerous times throughout the hours (yes, hours!) we spent at this store. It was pure heaven for me! My daughter resisted to begin with, but finally she started to enjoy the experience herself! Success!!
In the end, we walked away from our fun filled day of monster trucks and prom dresses with THE perfect prom dress with matching shoes and jewelry for my daughter’s very first prom!
Life is good … and these are the moments we will treasure for a lifetime!
I am blessed and so very thankful to God!
