First of all I would like to say fantastic blog!
I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you do not mind.
I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your mind
before writing. I have had difficulty clearing my thoughts
in getting my thoughts out. I do take pleasure in writing
but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted simply just trying to figure out how to
begin. Any recommendations or tips? Many thanks!

      Hi Rena,

      Thank you for stopping by!

I want to encourage you to write. It is a form of therapy for me, and it blesses my heart to be able to release what all is floating around inside of me. It blesses others as they read it, too, from what I’ve been told so that is the driving force behind my efforts on this blog. I set out in hopes of just touching one heart, one life … and if I do that, it’s worth it all and so much more.

I do have to concentrate and focus. I have to be intentional about writing. There are a lot of distractions during the course of the day, and some times when I write, there are things that try to get my attention and break my concentration.

I find that praying before I begin helps a great deal. I also try to take a deep breath and “check in” with how I’m feeling at the moment. I try to clear my mind as much as possible from anything negative, but if something is on my heart and greatly troubling me that day, I write about it but try to turn the negatives into a positive before I end the post.

If you have inspiration from a book, you could write about that. Or even a word prompt will help get the juices flowing. For example, what would you say to a friend that was hurting or who just faced betrayal? Or, how would you encourage someone’s heart with words of love to uplift them and support them in their time of need? Just allow yourself to think on those for a minute, and you will find that it will just flow so beautifully from your heart.

I hope that helps. Feel free to email me if you’d like to talk more.

      Blessings to you and yours,
      Shirley
