Spring Is In The Air
Most everyone is ready to escort Old Man Winter right on out the door by now. There has been tons of snow in the North, and there has even been snow AND ice in the South! We’ve encountered freezing temperatures, downed power lines and trees snapping under the pressure of the weight of the ice, loss of electricity, with massive clean up efforts needed afterwards.
At the time of this writing, we’ve had temperatures in the 70s just today! It has been so gorgeous outside with the birds singing, the sun shining, children playing, and our entire family enjoying lots of outdoor activities. They are saying, though, that the Farmer’s Almanac is predicting that the South will encounter yet another Winter Storm. For all of those that were initially praying for snow I say, “STOP IT ALREADY!” You had your fun with the fluffy white stuff that barely covered the ground here in our area. We had to scoop up all of the snow on the ground to make one tiny dirt covered snowman. It’s funny to see all of the pictures of what a snowman is supposed to look like, but the reality doesn’t even come close! It just makes us laugh even harder as we step back and stare at our pitiful little snowman! But, we’ve had our fun! I would much prefer to see flowers blooming now and fields of wildflowers along our country roads!
We will be saying goodbye to February at the end of this week and ushering in March. Let us bow our heads and pray that the Farmer’s Almanac is WRONG this time (although I’m told that it did predict the past two snow/ice incidents in the South)!
We want Spring! We want Spring! We … want … Spring!
Hang in there fellow Southerners! We’re in this together!
