It Is Well With My Soul
This old familiar hymn keeps playing over in my head. My thoughts begin to wander to days prior that were spent with my loved ones that have since passed on.
When peace like a river, attendeth my way,

I used to sing in the choir at a big church in town, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I actually looked so forward to coming together to raise my voice in praise with the other members of the choir. This was a favorite hymn of mine, and it would stir something within my soul each time I sang it.
From what we were told by a previous choir director, this song was originally penned when the author was going through great trials and tribulations in his life. How could something so beautiful come from such a hard time of suffering? Because of his love and dedication to Jesus! No matter what storm came his way, he was determined to praise Jesus even in the mist of the storms.
I think of my loved ones and how a lot of times when people pass away their loved ones are just not sure about their salvation. No one knows for certain except for God and this individual, but we can hope that they lived a good life and gave their heart to Jesus before they passed away. If they did, they are in Heaven rejoicing. What a beautiful thought. While those of us are left here to grieve, they are celebrating in Heaven. There’s no more tears, no more sorrow, no more pain. They are free from all of that over there. Praise the Lord! With all of the suffering they endured while on this earth, now they do not have to worry about that any longer. They are free from all aches and pains. They have been restored. While we’re crying over here, it’s shouting time in Heaven.
If you’re facing a difficult season in your life, are you able to say, “It is well … it is well with my soul?” Can you, with complete faith and confidence, profess this?
While the storms are raging, can you find comfort and peace in the arms of Jesus?
Can you say that no matter what comes your way, it is well with your soul?
Allow God to help you today. Turn all of your cares over to Him. There’s no need for you to carry these heavy burdens any longer. Cast all of your cares on Him. ALL of them. Don’t just give him a few and keep the rest to worry over. Cast ALL of your cares on Him. Every single one! He can handle it, and He does not need our help. Trust Him. Believe in Him. Have faith in Him. Man will fail you every time, but God will not! While His answer may not come right when you would like it, His timing is perfect. Trust it.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus and allow Him to work in your life so that you can proclaim, “It is well, it is well with my soul.”
